studio objects: rocket model
September 4, 2020
This is part of an occasional series about objects that live in my studio.

There’s Return Journey. That was a study model. That changed at least three different times. It was rebuilt three times. There used to be a concrete foundation, and then the landscaping changed a lot.

The grass is a broom–I took a broom and cut it up. And rocks from a parking lot! The model is made of cardboard and plastic and metal.
I was able to build it to scale, because the real rocket was on the ground at the time, so I could take detailed measurements of it. I just had to figure out how I was going to build it. That was fun, though.
