Description:

Commissioned for a new City of Minneapolis Public Works equipment maintenance facility, the sculpture incorporates 96 custom concrete castings made from standard City-issued recycling container lids. These precast lids, weighing over 19,000 pounds, are supported by a steel structure
that evokes the industrial materials used in the facility. The precast lids are stenciled on the undersides with images made from drawings made by the community in a series of engagement activities the artist conducted for one year. They are mounted at increasing angles and appear to open to the sky, like a blossoming flower.
