studio objects: nebula
January 15, 2021
This is part of an occasional series about objects that live in my studio.

Here’s another threaded piece. When the sunlight through the skylight hits it, it’s pretty amazing.

This one I really like. This isn’t finished, but all it is is the chicken wire, in a more organic form. I just shaped it by hand.

If it has a direct light on it, it makes it even better. I’ve taken videos of it too. And this is really a cosmic kind of inspiration, like a nebula or some kind of galaxy–some really bright kind of hazy cosmic forming thing. That’s what the inspiration is.

A series of outer space things was the idea behind this, to make a bunch of these and hang them in a dark space with spotlights on them in just a totally dark space. When the things are lit with a direct source of light and they’re basically in a darkened room, they really pop.
