Phase 1 installation complete!

October 4, 2019

We started installing Collection Point this week! It was commissioned for the new City of Minneapolis Public Works East Side Maintenance Facility. Here’s a look at the day:

At 8am, it begins…
There were 8 vertical steel frames, approximately 1,800 pounds each. 16 base plates fit on 64 anchor bolts flawlessly.

By noon all 8 frames are in place!
Next, cross bracing is added. Very complicated alignment must occur. Makes my stomach turn!
Miraculously, they fit. After months of adjustments, some as small as 1/8″ on paper, they actually fit!

Couldn’t have done it without Hans Early Nelson from Primitive Precision Metalcraft and Matt Carlyle from Carlyle Industries and their great crews.

And that is a brief account of a most miraculous, trouble-free day! More soon–later this month, the rest will be installed and these frames will support 96 concrete castings made from city-issued recycling container lids with a combined weight of 17,280 pounds.
