January 2013: Walker receives a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant. Walker will work with his South Minneapolis community to create a large-scale, collaborative installation.
January 2013: Commissioned by the Port of San Diego for WRAP:an artistic investigation of the San Diego Tidelands. This temporary, site-specific installation will be installed in Spring of 2014 at the two main cargo shipping terminals: the 10th Avenue Terminal and the National City Terminal. Walker will work to develop a concept over the next year.
January 2013: Commissioned by Scottsdale Public Art for site-specific temporary installation as part of Belle Art Cycle III. To be installed March-May 2013. Walker's proposal, Entanglement, will use an existing "bell tower" as a framework for a fibrous wrapping.
December 2012: Commissioned by the City of Albuquerque to create a permanent outdoor work for the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum. Walker's proposal, Sky Portal, will be visible from the sky as well as the ground. Design and installation will take place in 2013.
December 2012: Dream Elevator in St. Louis Park, MN, completed. Dedication event to be announced.

June 2012: Passage has been selected for the Public Art Network's 2012 Public Art Year in Review. The temporary installation was recognized by jurors as one of fifty of the most compelling public projects in the country completed in 2011. The project was selected from over 400 entries.
February 2012: Randy Walker has received the first McKnight Foundation/ Forecast Public art Project Grant for mid-career public artists. Walker's grant proposal, Filling the Void, will examine how a work of public art might bridge the gap between permanent and temporary. He will work with the Kulture Klub Collaborative, a Minneapolis-based non-profit organization that brings artists and homeless youth together to create a permanent sculptural framework that will be woven in a series of temporary installations over a one year period to initiate a process that is intended to continue indefinitely.
January 2012: Woven Prism selected for inclusion in Art on The Plains XI, a juried exhibition at the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota

November 2011: The City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, has given approval to begin work on The Dream Elevator, a permanent public sculpture proposed by Randy Walker. The outdoor structure will mark Walker's largest commission to date, and is expected to be completed by Fall 2012.
